About Mythic Media

Mythic Media is an independent game studio building KAOS: Awakening — an ambitious AAA action-RPG that fuses Greek mythology with a cyberpunk dystopia set in the year 2713. Think God of War meets Cyberpunk 2077 meets Horizon Zero Dawn. We’re backed by early investor interest from top-tier firms and are currently assembling a world-class founding team to bring this vision to life.

This isn’t a job — it’s a chance to co-create a franchise from the ground up. We have extensive creative documentation, a 30-year franchise roadmap, original music, and a clear path to our first vertical slice demo. What we need is a technical visionary to lead the build.

The Role

We’re seeking a Senior Unreal Engine Developer who can step into the CTO / Technical Co-Founder role. You’ll own the entire technical vision — from architecture to implementation — working directly with our CEO and Creative Director to transform an expansive creative blueprint into a playable reality.

This is a leadership position with meaningful equity and creative input, not a hired-gun contract. You’ll have a real seat at the table and a real stake in what we’re building.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead all technical development in Unreal Engine 5, establishing architecture, pipelines, and best practices from day one

•Design and implement core game systems including combat, AI, procedural generation, dynamic narrative branching, and multiplayer infrastructure

•Build and scale the engineering team as funding milestones are reached

•Collaborate closely with creative leadership to ensure technical execution matches the artistic vision

•Own the technical roadmap toward the vertical slice demo — our primary funding milestone

•Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (AI-driven NPCs, procedural world-building, advanced physics systems)

•Establish CI/CD pipelines, version control workflows, and quality assurance processes

•Represent the technical side of the studio in investor meetings and partnership discussions

Required Qualifications

•7+ years of professional game development experience with at least 4 years in Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5)

•Shipped at least one title in a senior or lead engineering role (AA or AAA preferred)

•Deep expertise in C++ and Blueprints within the Unreal ecosystem

•Strong experience with one or more: combat systems, AI behavior trees, open-world streaming, multiplayer netcode, or procedural generation

•Proven ability to architect scalable game systems from prototype through production

•Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams

•Strong communication skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, remote startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience with Unreal Engine 5 features: Nanite, Lumen, World Partition, MetaHumans, or PCG Framework

•Background in action-RPG, hack-and-slash, or open-world game development

•Experience with AI/ML integration in game systems (NPC behavior, dialogue, procedural content)

•Familiarity with live-service game architecture and post-launch content pipelines

•Prior startup or co-founder experience in games or tech

•Passion for mythology, sci-fi, cyberpunk, or genre-blending narratives

What We Offer

•Significant equity stake as a technical co-founder — this is a founding team opportunity

•Revenue share and deferred salary structure with transition to competitive compensation upon funding

•Full creative and technical autonomy over the engineering vision

•A deeply developed creative foundation: 200+ pages of lore, narrative, and design documentation ready to build from

•A clear path to funding with early investor interest from top-tier firms

•The chance to shape a franchise from its inception — not join one already in motion

•Flexible, remote-first work culture built on trust and creative passion

About KAOS: Awakening

Set in a fractured future where ancient gods have been reborn as digital entities, KAOS: Awakening follows Theia — a fierce, complex protagonist — as she navigates a world where mythology and technology have violently collided. Accompanied by Reaver, a morally ambiguous companion, and OWL, an AI reconnaissance drone, players will carve their path through a sprawling open world filled with branching narratives, brutal combat, and deep lore.

The project features an original soundtrack, cinematic-quality storyboarding, and comprehensive technical design documentation spanning eight major game systems. This isn’t a pitch deck dream — the creative work is done. We need the technical lead to bring it to life.

How to Apply

Submit your resume along with:

•A portfolio or links to shipped titles / relevant project work

•A brief cover letter explaining why this opportunity excites you and what you’d bring to the founding team

•Any relevant GitHub, demo reels, or technical writing samples (optional but appreciated)
