<p><b>Position Summary</b></p><p>As a Tree Care Specialist, you will utilize advanced climbing and rigging techniques to remove dead or excess branches from trees and shrubs. Your efforts will play a crucial role in maintaining right-of-way for roads, sidewalks, and utilities, while also enhancing the beauty, health, and value of our green spaces. You will be responsible for pruning and treating trees or shrubs using various hand and power tools, often working high above the ground in the tree canopy.</p><p><b>Duties and Responsibilities Include</b></p><p><b>Essential Duties:</b></p><ul><li>Remove dead and excess branches from trees.</li><li>Manage branches near power lines using climbing gear or truck-mounted lifts.</li><li>Support trees and branches with cables, braces, ties, bolts, stakes, and guides.</li><li>Maintain tools and equipment by cleaning, sharpening, and lubricating.</li><li>Examine trees for signs of disease or pests.</li><li>Oversee and train team members engaged in tree trimming work.</li><li>Operate various equipment such as boom trucks, stump and brush chippers, and power saws.</li><li>Prune, fertilize, treat, and remove trees and shrubs as directed.</li><li>Prepare trees for transplanting and facilitate their removal.</li><li>Be adaptable to changes in duties and responsibilities.</li></ul><p><b>What You'll Bring to the Team</b></p><ul><li>Basic mechanical skills.</li><li>Proficient in tree groundwork including pruning and removal techniques.</li><li>Ability to successfully complete a proficiency test in climbing, knot tying, and chainsaw maintenance.</li><li>Understanding of safe equipment operation including chainsaws and chippers.</li><li>Valid driver's license with a clean driving record as per company standards.</li><li>Knowledge of key job functions and responsibilities.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.</li><li>Strong problem-solving abilities.</li><li>Capable of meeting the physical demands of the role.</li><li>Pass drug and alcohol screenings as per company policy and DOT regulations when applicable.</li><li>Must be at least 18 years old (21 if a CDL is required).</li><li>Legally authorized to work in the United States.</li></ul><p>Please note, this job description is meant to provide an overview and is not a comprehensive list of all activities, duties, or responsibilities.
