As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of patients while enjoying competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the support of a dedicated clinical team.</p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong><ul><li>One year of recent experience as a Pre/Post-Op RN</li><li>Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations</li><li>Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification</li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong><ul><li>ACLS Certifications</li><li>PALS certification</li><li>Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position</li></ul><strong>Summary:</strong><p>The Post/Pre-Op Registered Nurse provides specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery. This role involves assessing patient health before and after surgery, implementing care plans, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The Post/Pre-Op RN ensures patient safety and comfort prior to and during the surgical recovery period, using advanced clinical skills, effective communication, and adherence to professional and regulatory standards.</p><strong>Essential Work Functions:</strong><ul><li>Assesses patients pre-operatively, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and identifying potential risks</li><li>Prepare patients for surgery, including educating them about procedures and post-operative care</li><li>Receive and conduct comprehensive assessments of patients transferring from the operating room and assess their post-anesthesia condition</li><li>Monitors patients post-operatively for complications and manages pain and recovery</li><li>Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques</li><li>Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients in the perioperative setting</li><li>Observes and document patient conditions treatments, and significant incidents. and responses to anesthesia and treatments, notifying the care team of significant changes or adverse reactions</li><li>Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal, assesses patient condition and responds appropriately</li><li>Respond promptly to emergency situations utilizing Pre/post op nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols</li><li>Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and recovery progress in medical records</li><li>Develop and deliver individualized patient and family education plans, including detailed discharge instructions and recovery guidelines</li><li>Collaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive pre and post-operative care</li><li>Participate in patient handoff communications to ensure continuity of care between units and departments</li><li>Operate and monitor pre and post op-specific equipment, such as ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice</li><li>Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards</li></ul><strong>Required Essential Skills:</strong><ul><li>Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills</li><li>The ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is required</li><li>Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills</li><li><strong>Physical Abilities </strong>- Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending</li><li><strong>Interpersonal Skills </strong>- To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism</li><li><strong>Technical/Motor Skills </strong>- Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.</li><li><strong>Mental Requirements</strong> - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure.
