What You Should Know About the Transcriptionist - Clinic Position:

  • Hours are 8:00-5:00pm, Monday-Friday
  • This position is based within Jefferson Regional Practice Management
  • In this unique setting, daily interactions with a diverse clientele, including hospital staff, physicians, and visitors, are expected.
Job Summary:

The Clinic Transcriptionist is responsible for the reviewing and editing of transcribed documents for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with formatting and documentation standards. This position plays a vital role in facilitating effective communication within the healthcare sector.

Transcriptionist - Clinic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical Diploma: healthcare administration or other related field preferred.
  • Associate degree: healthcare administration, medical transcription or other related field preferred.
  • Registered Health Information Administrator or equivalent certification- preferred.
  • Registered Health Information Technician or equivalent certification- preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and/or physiology and medical transcription guidelines.
  • Minimum one-year experience of medical transcription.
  • Ability to type 80 wpm accurately.
  • Prior working knowledge of a digital dictation and/or computerized word processing system given special consideration.
  • Proficiency in grammar, punctuation and spelling with strong editing skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical and professional standards in medical transcription editing.
  • Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology, with the ability to accurately edit diverse medical specialties and procedures a plus.
  • Familiarity with transcription software and electronic document management systems desireable.
