Come join us!</p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p><u>The Opportunity:</u></p><p></p><p><span>As a Technical Supervisor at Netflix Animation Studios, you’ll be the primary technical leader on an animated feature film, shaping the show’s technical vision in close partnership with creative leadership. You’ll have the opportunity to adapt and evolve the pipeline, tools, and workflows to meet the project's unique, creative and technical challenges, ensuring all components meet - and push beyond - the production’s standards. Providing high-level oversight, you’ll guide and inspire a talented team, empowering them to solve problems efficiently and deliver at scale, all while collaborating with peers across our global studio.  </span></p><p><span> </span></p><p><u>What You’ll Do:</u></p><p></p><p>Creative Responsibilities: </p><ul><li><p><span>Partner with Director, Co-Director, Production Designer, Art Director, VFX Supervisor and broader creative leadership;</span></p></li><li><p><span>Understand key creative drivers, challenges, standards, and review processes for the production;</span></p></li><li><p><span>Turn creative goals, style and story needs into clear technical direction for the show. </span></p></li></ul><p></p><p>Technical Responsibilities: </p><ul><li><p><span>Set and own the technical strategy for the production, aligned with the show’s creative goals;</span></p></li><li><p><span>Guide  Associate Technical Supervisors and TD’s so teams are focused on the right problems at the right time;</span></p></li><li><p><span>Act as the main escalation point for complex cross‑departmental issues;</span></p></li><li><p><span>Drive pipeline improvements and contribute to a scalable, studio-wide pipeline</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p>Bidding & Scheduling: </p><ul><li><p><span>Partner with Technical Project Managers, Production, Solutions Engineering Managers, and Associate Technical Supervisors to scope technical needs and timelines;</span></p></li><li><p><span>Assess project needs and identify risks, gaps and inefficiencies, and propose alternative solutions;</span></p></li><li><p><span>Ensure development resources and timing are appropriate, and schedules are met.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p>Talent & Performance Management: </p><ul><li><p><span>Lead by example, and prioritise the work of Associate Technical Supervisors to ensure TD efforts stay aligned with show and pipeline goals; </span></p></li><li><p><span>Foster a collaborative, respectful culture across production and technology teams;</span></p></li><li><p><span>Partner with Artist Management, Production, Technical Talent, and Learning & Development on casting, mentoring, training needs, performance feedback, and hiring for Associate Technical Supervisors and TDs.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p>Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: </p><ul><li><p><span>Proactively communicate technology plans, initiatives, and objectives to productions;</span></p></li><li><p><span>Collaborate across teams to promote innovation and knowledge sharing; </span></p></li><li><p><span>Build confidence and trust through clear, adaptable communication and exercise sound judgement in decision-making, addressing conflicts early. </span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><u>What You’ll Need:</u></p><ul><li><p><span>5+ years of supervisory experience in large-scale animated features, animated TV series, and/or VFX feature films, with demonstrated proficiency through past project work and/or reel/portfolio</span></p></li><li><p><span>Proven experience implementing technical solutions to creative problems, with advanced knowledge of rendering workflows and pipeline development across a full animation pipeline </span></p></li><li><p><span>Strong technical skills, including experience with Python or scripting, and excellent knowledge of a broad range of DCCs (e.g. Maya, Houdini, Mari, Nuke) and production tracking software such as FlowPT or similar.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Effective leadership, and excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills</span></p></li><li><p><span>Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work across multiple areas while maintaining excellent attention to detail</span></p></li><li><p><span>Demonstrated excellence in problem-solving, balancing quick turnaround needs with long-term quality; degree or related qualification desirable but not essential.</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><i>This role is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Hybrid Role (Minimum of 3 days a week in the office). </i></p><p></p><p><i>At NAS, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The overall market range for this role is typically $180,000 to $246,000 CAD.
