Our teams create and curate the platform’s underlying data systems and ensure they are reliable, performant, and robust. We own the core foundational services that power the lifecycle of data across the business unit.</p> <p>We are looking for a skilled software engineer to drive the evolution of our data infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to rearchitect existing data pipelines, focusing on building a highly resilient, scalable, adaptable system that adheres to rigorous engineering and compliance standards. You will be instrumental in championing Infrastructure as Code principles, ensuring all solutions are meticulously versioned in Git, and establishing robust CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments and continuous integration. An exciting part of this opportunity involves exploring and implementing AI-driven approaches to create flexible and modular data processing solutions that can easily adapt to future requirements, while also ensuring strict adherence to data governance policies and compliance regulations. This role also offers the chance to mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the team.</p> <p>In this role, you can expect to:</p> <ul> <li>Design and build simple systems that solve complex, distributed data challenges</li> <li>Build, manage and orchestrate ETL/ELT pipelines</li> <li>Own large projects, judiciously evaluate trade-offs, and remove project blockers</li> <li>Level up your peers through code and design reviews, pair programming, and mentorship</li> <li>Work effectively with product managers, data scientists, data analysts and other engineering teams to define requirements, scope projects, and deliver data-as-product solutions</li> <li>Lead large software development projects from concept to delivery</li> </ul> <h2>Education</h2> <p><b>Required education</b></p> <p>High School Diploma/GED</p> <p><b>Preferred education</b></p> <p>Bachelor\'s Degree</p> <h2>Technical and professional expertise</h2> <ul> <li>10+ years of experience as a software engineer delivering stable, robust software in large and complex codebases</li> <li>Professional experience developing with modern programming languages and frameworks, with interest in Golang and Python, and Github Actions YAML workflows</li> <li>In-depth knowledge of architectural patterns and experience building data pipelines, microservices, and event-driven architectures</li> <li>Familiarity with various data sources, transformation techniques, and loading strategies</li> <li>Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, particularly with services related to data storage, processing, and warehousing (e.g., S3, BigQuery, Snowflake)</li> <li>Commitment to quality through maintainable code and comprehensive testing from development to deployment</li> <li>Strong written communication skills and ability to thrive in an all-remote, document-based culture with asynchronous and synchronous collaboration</li> <li>Production experience delivering software that operates in a production environment serving users</li> </ul> <h2>Preferred technical and professional experience</h2> <ul> <li>College or university degree in Computer Science</li> <li>Experience using HashiCorp products (especially Terraform)</li> <li>Ability to navigate ambiguity with empathy</li> <li>Desire to take on new challenges and deliver high-quality solutions</li> <li>Commitment to continuous self-improvement and mentoring others</li> </ul> <h2>About IBM</h2> <p>IBM Software infuses core business operations with intelligence—from machine learning to generative AI—to help organizations be more responsive, productive, and resilient.
