Job Description:

The DevOps Engineer on the Client Application Delivery team at Disney Streaming will be responsible for developing and supporting automation tools and processes that enable client applications across Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, ABC News, and additional streaming services. These applications serve as the primary interface through which users access content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, National Geographic, ABC, FX, and ESPN on the Disney Streaming platform. We seek a DevOps Engineer committed to designing and maintaining a sophisticated, collaborative build environment that supports native platforms, frameworks, plugins, and client applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain, and evolve complex build systems across multiple inter-dependent teams
  • Automation, CI/CD with on-device deployment and testing
  • Create and maintain build containers for a variety of devices and platforms
  • On-board and document new client devices and platforms
  • Centralized ownership and standardization of cross-team build system, from infrastructure to scripts
  • Customize build system and provide support for external and internal partners
  • Automate release metrics collection and analysis
  • Troubleshoot and fix build environment problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with DevOps, build, or systems engineering
  • Experience with git or other version control systems
  • Experience with Jenkins scripted pipelines and Docker
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and willingness to exercise them daily
  • Identifies areas for improvement and implement solutions
  • Top-notch analytical abilities coupled with a bias to action, and sense of urgency and ownership
  • Able to properly prioritize personal backlog without constant management oversight
  • Able to manage support requests and priority escalation
  • Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, or similar) to improve code quality, accelerate development, and enhance documentation.
  • Understanding of foundational AI/ML concepts, familiarity with cloud-native AI services such as model hosting, and/or ability to use AI tools to automate cloud operations tasks.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle
  • Familiarity with Xcode, Fastlane and Android application building
  • Fluent in any of Rust, C/C++, Java, Kotlin, Groovy, JavaScript, Ruby, Python
  • Familiarity with *nix Shell Scripting and/or Windows Scripting, PowerShell
  • Familiarity with NPM, Cargo Crates, Maven, Ant/Ivy, Gradle, Bazel or similar tools
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions and/or Gitlab pipelines
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud offerings like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
  • Familiarity with Ansible, Terraform, or other "infrastructure as code" tools and systems

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience

The hiring range for this position in New York City is $123,000 - $165,000. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered
