Our client is looking for a Senior Atlassian Engineer to architect, design, implement, and operate Jira and Confluence tools. As a specialist in this field, you will establish standards and best practices to ensure high-quality services and sustainability. Their team collaborates with executive stakeholders to drive enterprise-wide transformation through scalable, governed, and collaborative delivery frameworks. You will play a key role in promoting adoption, leading enterprise-wide enhancements, and serving as a trusted advisor to advance Atlassian platforms across various departments.

This is a fully remote contract-to-hire opportunity.

Requirements

As a Senior Atlassian Engineer, you will:

  • Oversee and facilitate tool migrations, upgrades, and updates, guaranteeing minimal or no downtime and maintaining data integrity during maintenance periods. Perform regular health checks and maintenance activities to ensure the smooth operation of the platform.
  • Remain updated on Atlassian product advancements, ecosystem developments, and industry best practices. Assess, install, and configure Jira plugins, Confluence macros, and integrations to enhance the platform's functionalities and connect with other tools within the technology stack. Execute front-end administrative tasks for Jira as required.
  • Establish and uphold security protocols to protect data and guarantee compliance with data protection laws and internal policies.
  • Create and manage backup and recovery plans for Jira and Confluence. Document these processes and provide training for relevant personnel.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to Atlassian tools and database servers.
  • Monitor system performance and usage, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement improvements to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant security policies and procedures to support the organization’s secure software development initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years of software programming experience, including 5 years as an Atlassian Administrator responsible for configuring and managing Jira and Confluence instances.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • A combination of relevant education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of the above qualifications.
  • Proficient scripting abilities in Groovy, Python, and JQL (Jira Query Language for automation and customization in Jira).
  • Possession of Atlassian Jira Certifications.
  • Practical experience with API integrations, webhooks, REST APIs, Ansible, and GitHub.
  • Residing in the Eastern or Central Time Zone (US) with the flexibility to adjust working hours to suit various time zones.
  • You exhibit curiosity, passion, authenticity, and accountability. These principles are our and guide all our actions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in reporting and data analysis using Jira and Confluence
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure services such as AWS and Azure
  • Atlassian Certified Expert

  • Skilled in executing migrations to Atlassian Data Center and Cloud
