Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Ford Motor Company is seeking a Senior Db2 System Programmer to support their global IBM Db2 for z/OS environment. The role involves acting as a subject matter expert in mainframe application modernization efforts and providing guidance on Db2 data integration with the cloud.


Responsibilities

  • Install, support, customize, test, implement and document z/OS Db2 system software and related program products
  • Ensure the high availability, performance tuning, and stability of DB2 subsystems
  • Provide guidance to support the development of Db2 data ingestion patterns between mainframe and cloud which include guidance on tooling capabilities/limitations, direct engagement on proof of concepts with application and infrastructure teams
  • Work directly with Mainframe DB2 System Programmers, Cloud DBAs, Mainframe DBAs, Enterprise Architects and Application teams to provide guidance, development and alignment on standards and issue resolution as applications execute their modernization strategies
  • Perform problem analysis and root cause determination for Db2 and tools issues
  • Develop, test, document and implement system modifications and support procedures
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours and weekend support
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and testing
  • Ensure adherence to audit and security requirements
  • Create and respond to change, request, incident and problem tickets in ServiceNow

Skills

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience as a Db2 System Programmer in a z/OS mainframe environment
  • 5+ years of experience with mainframe infrastructure and large application modernization initiatives involving Db2 to cloud integration, Db2 to PostgreSQL migration, and z/OS Connect APIs
  • SMP/E installation and software maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of REXX, CLIST, ISPF/TSO programming, CA7, SQL, QMF, JCL, z/OS Operating System, z/OS Storage Management, JES2, JES3, TCP/IP
  • Experience with Db2 WLM and Native Stored Procedures, UDFs, Java and XML
  • Experience with Db2 performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of Omegamon for Db2, RACF, Db2 Data Sharing, Query Monitor, Optim TDM, BMC Db2 Tools, IBM Db2 Tools, IZPCA, zMQ, Qlik Replicate, Striim, IIDR, Informatica PowerExchange, FOCUS, WebFOCUS
  • Candidates must have good verbal and written communication skills, be highly motivated, and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of mainframe Assembler coding
