The IBM i Administrator will manage and administer IBM i workloads in a cloud hosting environment, oversee system integrations and troubleshooting, and provide 24x7 on-call support.


Responsibilities

  • IBM i / iSeries LPAR builds, disk management, and execution of custom CL scripts for automation as/where needed
  • Manage core IBM i operational components including user and object security, authorization lists, TCP/IP configuration, job scheduling, subsystem tuning, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and system health checks
  • Administer and optimize IBM i BRMS environments including backup policy design, media sets, control groups, tape library integration, duplication strategies, and automated recovery procedures. Perform BRMS maintenance, auditing, troubleshooting of backup failures, and ensure alignment with retention and compliance requirements
  • Oversee daily/weekly/monthly backup workflows, verify successful completion, perform media rotation, maintain tape libraries, and execute recovery procedures. Ensure BRMS, tape libraries, and VTLs operate within defined SLAs
  • Perform platform-specific technical tasks including operating system upgrades, installation and configuration of various software packages, installation of patches and fixes (PTFs)
  • Perform problem analysis, documentation, root-cause analysis, and create incident reports for complex system environments
  • Maintain documentation of the system and application monitoring, scheduling packages, and tape management systems
  • Ability to participate in after-hours escalations and 24x7 on call as scheduled
  • Adhere to company and IT policies
  • Data Replication QEDD, Mimix, and others is a plus
  • Administration of Hardware Management Console (HMC)

Skills

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in IBM i administration, including experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of environments running the IBM i operating systems on power-based hardware
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills required
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Eligibility to work in the USA
  • Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or 2+ years of related work experience an asset
  • Data Replication QEDD, Mimix, and others is a plus
  • Understanding of Data Center Operations and Infrastructure Design and VIOs an asset
  • VIOs is a plus
