About The Role Join GB Railfreight as a Part-Time Payroll Assistant , where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the accurate input of data into our Traincrew hours system and the timely production of reports for Traincrew, including any subsequent amendments. In this vital position, you will also provide essential administrative support to the Payroll Team, helping us deliver a reliable and efficient payroll service across the business.

Closing date: 19th March

This is a part time role working three days per week with a salary of £15,000. The working pattern will typically be three full days - Monday to Wednesday, however we would consider splitting the third day across Wednesday and Thursday (two half days) if preferred. This role is primarily based at our Whitemoor site in March, with occasional working from our Peterborough office. Once fully trained , there may also be the opportunity to work from home one day per week, subject to business needs.

Working as part of the payroll team, you will assist in the following duties

  • Updating of Time & Attendance System as required
  • Extraction of Roster/T&A hours for distribution
  • Ensure that work is carried out diligently & in a timely manner
  • General office administration
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records
  • Produce periodic reports
  • Liaising with relevant 3rd parties
  • 1st line support in resolving hours queries from staff
  • Administrative duties to assist in the efficient running of the Payroll department

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Proficient IT user with solid working knowledge of Excel
  • Strong Administrator with excellent organisational skills
  • Clear, confident and effective communicator
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade A-C or equivalent)
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong work ethic
  • Able to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a team

Desirable

  • Experience of Crewplan would be an advantage
  • Experience of computerised and manual payroll systems
  • Knowledge of Time and Attendance systems
  • Rail Industry Experience
