Summary

Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking an experienced Modeling & Simulation (M&S) professional to lead the design, development, and integration of advanced simulation capabilities supporting military training, operational readiness, and mission analysis. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong operational understanding, and the ability to collaborate across services, partners, and stakeholders in demanding DoD environments. This position will support the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE) Joint Staff J7(JS J-7) contract at the Suffolk, VA Joint Staff Complex. Travel as needed to Suffolk, VA and other M&S partner sites to support collaboration, integration, and program success.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and integrate training models and simulations to support operational readiness for military personnel and mission focused users.
• Develop software that simulates user behavior, system interactions, and mission dynamics across complex, multi domain environments.
• Build and integrate visualization tools that enhance user interaction with simulation models and support effective interpretation of results.
• Create and refine operational environment models to support scenario based simulations, evaluating system architectures, user workflows, and mission outcomes.
• Conduct studies and system analyses using computer based simulations to inform decisions on alternative architectures, mission strategies, and operational procedures.
• Perform mission effectiveness and operational analysis to assess system performance under varied conditions and provide actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, operators, and stakeholders to ensure simulation models accurately reflect real world systems and operational environments.
• Prepare and deliver clear, concise reports and technical briefings to leadership, clients, and cross functional teams.

What You Must Have

• 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
• Extensive experience leading complex M&S initiatives and integrating advanced technologies within DoD environments.
• Proven expertise in building M&S architectures, including constructive, live, virtual, and hardware in the loop systems for large scale distributed training.
• Deep knowledge of M&S standards, including DIS/HLA protocols and distributed simulation integration.
• Demonstrated ability to translate operational requirements into technical features and lead cross functional development teams.
• Experience supporting joint and combined operations, including advising coalition and multinational partners on simulation integration.
• Participation in joint exercises and simulation based events to ensure interoperability across military branches and allied forces.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non technical audiences.
• Must have an active Secret security clearance.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with advanced simulation tools (MATLAB, Simulink, Arena, etc.).
• Knowledge of military operations, tactics, and joint mission execution.
• Experience with simulation environments supporting military or defense training.
• Background in mission planning, operations analysis, and effectiveness assessments for large scale or joint operations.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools and techniques.
• Familiarity with system of systems modeling and multi domain simulation environments.
• Knowledge of machine learning or AI applications in modeling and simulation.
• Expertise with distributed simulation architectures (HLA, DIS).
• Experience with operational analysis tools and methodologies.
• Graduate of the Military Simulation Officer Course.
• Completion of advanced military education such as:
o Army War College
o Joint Qualified Officer Training
o Joint Military Simulation Courses
o U.S. Army Command and General Staff College
