Job Overview

The Merchandising Support and Operations Analyst at Macy’s, reporting to the Merchant Operations Team, supports Buyers, Planners, and various cross-functional partners including Supply Chain, Store Operations, Shortage Control, A/P, Private Label brands, Licensed Businesses, Distribution Warehouses, and External Vendors.

Their main responsibility involves maintaining the integrity and stability of Macy’s Style File, which includes products sold in stores and online. The Style File system houses information on all Macy’s merchandise, encompassing 4 million products and over 10.5 million records at the color/size (UPC) level. Given its integration with multiple retail systems, the Analyst performs maintenance tasks to ensure compliance with corporate hierarchy, website availability, and merchandise taxation.

What You Will Do

  • Regularly monitor merchant service platforms to promptly address issues and process business requests.
  • Track trends and identify opportunities for upstream solutions to reduce ticket volume.
  • Research and resolve systemic issues reported by Buyers, Planners, or detected internally.
  • Timely and accurately process maintenance requests submitted by Buying Offices.
  • Coordinate seasonal updates to merchandise departmental hierarchy based on business needs.
  • Participate in testing enhancements and reviewing Merchandise Not Live and Issue Tracking System (ITS) open issues.
  • Develop and improve current website reporting for Macy’s organization. 
  • Compile trend reports for areas consistently appearing in website exception reports to ensure accurate product availability on Macys.com.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the website area and its interfaces with other support functions within the organization.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service and Facilities teams to resolve issues and enhance Customer Satisfaction Score (SCAT).
  • Assist Merchants in researching and resolving issues reported by customer service and warehouses.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities
  • Generate ad-hoc reports as needed.

Skills You Will Need

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. Above-average mathematical skills including computation of rates, ratios, percentages, and statistical concepts.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interpret technical information and convey it effectively to various partners. Ability to read and interpret reports and procedure manuals.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to analyze data, identify business opportunities, and creatively solve problems.

Product Development Knowledge: Understanding of the product development process in retail is recommended.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to address issues and implement action plans.

Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail in monitoring and maintaining data integrity and system stability.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and connect daily tasks to broader company strategies and initiatives.

Adaptability and Multitasking: Capability to multitask, prioritize workload, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Partnership Building: Interest in developing strong partnerships across the organization to facilitate cross-functional problem-solving.

Continuous Learning: Eagerness to learn about the business details and adapt to evolving strategies and results.

Who You Are

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 1-2 years of work experience preferred. 
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
