About the position

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is looking to add to our Technology Support team and has a new opportunity for a Manager Computer Operations & Support Services. This position is responsible for leading and providing oversight for several functional areas within IT, including Computer and Data Center Operations, Job Scheduling, Digital Print Services, and Internal/External Mail and Corporate Imaging Services. This role involves ensuring the smooth operation of these areas, managing high-volume printing and related equipment, overseeing automated batch scheduling activities, and facilitating data center activities. The Manager will work closely with internal customers, other IT departments, and key vendors to ensure successful and timely operations and implementation of new systems and processes. The role also includes representing the areas of responsibility in internal and external audits and ensuring 24/7 uptime and staffing for the production data center. “This position is eligible to work hybrid or onsite in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the computer operations center, ensuring the smooth execution of batch processes, system monitoring, and incident resolution.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance and availability of servers, systems and applications critical to business operations, including but not limited to upgrades, installations and overall maintenance.
  • Ensure 24/7 uptime and staffing for the production data center and across the Computer Operations teams, including disaster recovery solutions for all areas of responsibility.
  • Work closely in collaboration with internal customers, other IT departments and teams and key vendors to ensure successful and timely day-to-day operations and timely implementation of new systems and processes across all areas of responsibility.
  • Responsible for all high-volume printing and all related equipment and supporting software solutions, as well as inserting and sorting equipment for Mail Center operations.
  • Coordinate with Facilities Management to manage the data center, including space planning, power and cooling capacity, equipment installation and relocation, and regular cleaning.
  • Oversee projects to implement new solutions across all areas of responsibility.
  • Direct activities associated with timely problem determination and resolution on hardware and software solutions within the areas of responsibility.
  • Represent areas of responsibility in all internal and external audit activities, including annual SOC audits.
  • Ensure high performance and high availability of all related systems and staff, measured through carefully defined and closely monitored Service Level Agreements.
  • Accountable for performance monitoring, policy enforcement, termination process, disciplinary action, hiring, compliance and team development.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all hiring, firing and disciplinary actions.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • In lieu of degree, minimum of 10 years’ progressive, relevant experience within this or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical roles like systems administration or IT support.
  • 4 years’ experience leading teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous leadership in a business operations support center.
  • Experience with high-volume print operations and process control solutions preferred.
  • Familiarity with current Ricoh technology printers and process control solutions preferred.
  • Data Center management experience, including best practices and standards implementation preferred.
  • Automated batch scheduling and related software solutions experience preferred.
  • Experience with data center management, disaster recovery and business continuity planning preferred.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in printing and mailing services preferred.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple complex and concurrent projects across multiple areas of responsibility.
