As a FedEx Intern, you will be working on projects gaining you valuable, real-world experience in a professional environment as it relates to your field of study.

Essential Functions

  • Present and deliver long-term solutions that will have significant impacts to the business and/or customer experience.

  • Participates in various networking and/or community service events.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Day to Day Duties:

The Summer Intern will explore supply chain, logistics, and field sales in the Chicagoland market through a hybrid role that combines remote work with in-person customer visits. You’ll learn FedEx corporate dynamics and international export/import flows, consult with customers on parcel and air freight solutions, and apply knowledge of sales, international business, AI, marketing, and supply chain to prospect and onboard business. Expect hands-on exposure to customs basics, trade lanes, value-added services, FedEx digital tools, and consultative selling across small and medium customers.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Prospect and contact customers and prospects within a defined territory or accounts.

  • Conduct face-to-face meetings and virtual outreach (phone, email, video) to identify needs and present FedEx solutions.

  • Support onboarding of new business and document sales activity in CRM.

  • Research complex customer supply chain needs using FedEx systems and coordinate implementation with internal teams.

  • Assist with international export/import processes, documentation, and customs-related questions.

  • Provide customer resolution and ongoing service support to grow and maintain relationships.

  • Use data and AI-enabled tools to identify leads, inform proposals, and support consultative sales.

Preferred Skills:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in business, supply chain, international business, marketing, data/AI, or related field.

  • Self-starter with strong curiosity, problem-solving ability, and a passion for learning.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for customer interaction and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Comfortable with field sales activity and travel within the Chicagoland territory.

  • Proficient with digital communication tools and willing to learn CRM and analytics platforms.

  • Preferred: prior sales/logistics experience, familiarity with trade concepts (Incoterms, HS codes), CRM/Excel skills, and multilingual ability.

Summer 2026 Internship - Availability to work 40 hours/week for a 10-week program, June 8th - August 14th.  Resume should include information: email address, telephone number, name of college/university, degree, major, GPA, date of intended graduation (month & year). 

Immigration - Immigration sponsorship is not available for intern positions. Sponsorship may be available for full-time, exempt positions, depending on the specific role and federal regulations. Note, sponsorship is never guaranteed under any circumstances.

Compensation: Salary is $25/hour for undergraduates and $30/hour for graduates. A $2,000 stipend is available for those relocating over 50 miles for an on-site or hybrid internship or co-op experience. 

 

Domicile: This position spans Chicago, Schaumburg, Elgin, Crystal Lake, McHenry, Buffalo Grove, Bartlett and more in the Chicagoland area. This position may be domiciled in Chicago, IL to surrounding suburbs within 60 miles of the Territory.

 

 


Minimum Education

Currently enrolled student or recent college graduate (within 6 months of graduation) at a college/university obtaining a 3.0 GPA or higher.

No experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work productively and proactively, both independently or as a part of a team.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills.

Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals.

Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with across business units and to all levels of management.

Ability to analyze, review, and make recommendations.
