<p>The <b>Instrument Technician, Lake Charles Refinery</b> works in the maintenance department of the refinery. The positions are straight day jobs, subject to occasional shift work, turnarounds, call outs and mandatory overtime. Instrument Technicians are responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, repair, and troubleshooting of refinery process control instrumentation. This work takes place in all areas of the refinery, outside exposed to the weather elements and to blowing air, heat, noise and vibration. The refinery processes involve hazardous and volatile materials under high temperatures and pressures. The work may take place at heights on vessels and towers and/or in confined spaces</p> <p>This position requires the successful completion of an online assessment. <li>Installing and maintaining on-line analyzers</li>
<li>Tuning Instrument control loops</li>
<li>Testing and maintaining Instrument Safety Systems</li>
<li>Troubleshooting, maintaining and overhauling process control valves</li>
<li>Fabricating small diameter instrument tubing</li>
<li>Testing and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers</li>
<li>Preparing schematic drawings, sketches and reports to reflect activities</li>
<li>Coordinating work of others as needed</li>
<li>Assuring compliance with all company policies and procedures and training requirements</li> <p><b>What You’ll Bring - Required</b></p> <li>Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions</li>
<li>High School Diploma or GED equivalent</li>
<li>Valid driver's license</li>
<li>3 or more years of experience as a journeyman level Instrument Craftsperson in an oil refinery, chemical process, electric utility, electrical distribution equipment testing or similar facility</li>
<li>Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Information can be found at </li>

Climb up to 285 feet in height
Work near large, hot, high-speed machines

Work around chemicals, including acids and bases, that may be under high pressure

<p>The hourly rate for this position is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The starting 2nd class Craft Worker rate is currently $49.44 per hour. The 1st class Craft Worker rate is currently $52.54 per hour. Benefits include 8% 401k match, Cash Balance Account pension, and 7.5% annual cash bonus target.</p> <p>The <b>Lake Charles Refinery </b>is located in Westlake, Louisiana. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. Facilities also include a specialty coker and calciner. The refinery processes a mixture of light to heavy, low- and high sulfur and low- and high-acid crude oils. It receives domestic, Canadian and other foreign crude oil through truck, pipeline, marine transportation and terminals, including the Beaumont and Clifton Ridge terminals and the Bayou Bridge Pipeline. Lake Charles produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include off-road diesel, home heating oil, feedstock for our Excel Paralubes joint venture, specialty graphite petroleum coke and petroleum coke.
