Pioneering the Future of Physical Grocery Retail

At Amazon, our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company, and we are fundamentally transforming the physical grocery shopping experience. Amazon Fresh stores seamlessly integrate the high-tech convenience of our "Just Walk Out" technology and Dash Carts with the warmth and hospitality of a premium neighborhood grocer. We are actively seeking highly energetic, culinary-minded individuals who possess a strong Bias for Action to join our in-store grocery teams. When you step into a role as an Amazon Fresh In-Store Customer Service Associate, you are taking on a dynamic, 100% in-person role that requires you to master physical inventory management, tech troubleshooting, and elite customer hospitality. Please note that this is a fully on-site, physical retail position located directly on the grocery sales floor; there are absolutely no remote or work-from-home options for this role.

About the Role: The Culinary & Tech Ambassador

As an Amazon Fresh In-Store Customer Service Associate, you are the versatile engine that keeps the grocery store running. You are not confined to a single aisle; you are a cross-functional expert. One hour you might be expertly staging fresh produce, the next you might be assisting a customer with their high-tech Dash Cart, and the next you might be working at the customer service desk processing Amazon.com package returns. Your primary objective is to ensure that the physical store is immaculately merchandised, fully stocked, and that every customer receives proactive, welcoming assistance. This role demands exceptional physical endurance, a passion for food quality, and a relentless commitment to Amazon's "Earn Trust" leadership principle. You are the ultimate host of the Amazon Fresh physical experience.

A Day in the Life of a Fresh Store Associate

Your shift begins bright and early directly on the physical sales floor. After clocking in and attending the team huddle, you deploy to the produce department. You meticulously cull the displays, ensuring only the freshest, highest-quality fruits and vegetables are presented to the customer. A shopper approaches you, confused about how to log into the "Just Walk Out" entry gates using their Amazon app. You warmly walk them through the digital process, ensuring they enter the store smoothly. Later in your shift, you transition to the front-of-house customer service desk. Here, you rapidly process dozens of unboxed Amazon package returns, answering questions about Prime memberships and issuing immediate refunds. Before your shift ends, you head to the backroom coolers (which are kept at a brisk 35 degrees) to pull heavy pallets of dairy products, restocking the shelves to ensure the store is perfectly prepared for the evening grocery rush. You are constantly moving, engaging, and problem-solving in person.

Comprehensive and Detailed Responsibilities

  • 100% On-Site Customer Hospitality: Provide elite, face-to-face customer service across the entire physical grocery floor. You will proactively approach customers, guide them to specific products, and offer culinary suggestions, acting as a knowledgeable and welcoming host.
  • Tech-Integration Support: Serve as the primary on-site technical guide for Amazon's cutting-edge retail technology. You will assist customers with navigating the Amazon app, unlocking Dash Carts, utilizing Alexa kiosks, and understanding the seamless checkout processes.
  • Physical Merchandising & Stocking: Execute the heavy-lifting demands of grocery logistics. You will constantly unload delivery trucks, break down heavy pallets, and meticulously restock shelves, coolers, and freezers. This requires the physical stamina to continuously lift boxes weighing up to 49 pounds.
  • Amazon.com Returns Processing: Operate the dedicated in-store customer service counter. You will flawlessly execute Amazon's "unboxed, unlabeled" return service, processing digital QR codes, inspecting merchandise, and securely packaging items for outbound logistics.
  • Food Safety & Quality Control: Maintain uncompromising standards of food safety. You will continuously monitor expiration dates, execute strict temperature controls in the cold-chain environments, and ensure the entire physical sales floor is pristine and hygienic.

What Our Associates Say: Real Employee Perspectives

The Amazon Fresh role is highly regarded for its variety and active nature. A current on-site associate shared: "Working at Amazon Fresh is incredibly dynamic. It is 100% on your feet and in-person, which is exactly what I wanted. You aren't just standing behind a traditional cash register. I get to help people with the cool new shopping cart tech, I organize the bakery, and I process Amazon returns. The customers are always amazed by the technology, and helping them figure it out is really rewarding. It’s a serious physical workout pushing the heavy grocery pallets, but the days go by so fast, and the healthcare benefits you get from Amazon are way better than any other grocery chain I've worked for."

Industry-Leading Total Rewards and Benefits

Amazon provides a dominant compensation package for our frontline physical retail teams:

  • Financial Wellness & Anytime Pay: Earn a highly competitive hourly wage with frequent opportunities for overtime. You also have access to the Anytime Pay app, allowing you to withdraw up to 70% of your earned wages immediately after your physical shift ends.
  • Total Healthcare Security: Gain immediate access to elite, comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage on Day 1, protecting you and your family without any waiting periods.
  • The Career Choice Program: Amazon will pre-pay up to 95% of your college tuition or vocational trade school fees, empowering you to advance your career while working in our retail locations.
  • Paid Time Off & 401(k): Accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) from your very first shift and build long-term wealth with a robust 401(k) retirement matching program.

Basic Qualifications and Physical Requirements

  • Must be strictly 18 years of age or older and possess a High School diploma or equivalent educational credential.
  • Must be fully available and committed to working a 100% on-site, physical retail schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. (No remote work).
  • Exceptional, elite physical stamina is an absolute requirement; you must be capable of continuously lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling grocery freight up to 49 pounds, and working in chilled environments (freezers/coolers) for extended periods.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills required to interface smoothly with thousands of diverse customers in a public grocery setting.
  • Strong technological literacy required to operate proprietary Amazon inventory software, handheld scanners, and assist customers with smartphone applications.
