The Brokerage Coordinator position is a customer-facing role responsible for coordinating, securing, and managing third-party carrier capacity to support Critical Mile transportation operations. This role ensures customer freight is covered efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with company service standards. This role serves as the primary liaison between customers, approved carriers, and internal operations teams to secure capacity, negotiate rates, monitor load execution, and manage service performance.

Dispatcher Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide brokerage coverage to ensure uninterrupted freight movement, capacity alignment, and service continuity within terminal operations.
    • Respond to incoming calls and electronic communications from customers, carriers, and internal teams; accurately enter and update load details in transportation management systems.
    • Coordinate routed, on-demand, accessorial, and special freight orders in accordance with established brokerage and operational standards.
    • Evaluate load feasibility based on capacity, equipment requirements, terminal throughput, carrier availability, and customer expectations.
    • Secure and assign third-party carrier capacity; monitor load execution to ensure on-time pickup, delivery, and dock coordination.
    • Monitor system dashboards and load boards for service delays, missed milestones, or shipment exceptions; take corrective action as needed.
    • Track load acceptance, transit progress, and delivery confirmation; reassign or recover freight in cases of breakdowns, service failures, or capacity disruptions.
    • Manage time-sensitive shipments to ensure adherence to pickup and delivery windows and terminal processing requirements.
    • Provide real-time support to carriers and terminal personnel to resolve routing, dock scheduling, documentation, or execution-related issues.
    • Maintain system access and support functions within brokerage and transportation platforms, including basic troubleshooting and user coordination as needed.
    • Ensure data accuracy and load visibility by monitoring status updates, scan compliance, and exception reporting within transportation systems.
    • Support Operations leadership with reporting, issue resolution, load recovery efforts, and service escalations.
    • Address customer and carrier concerns professionally; escalate unresolved issues in accordance with established brokerage and terminal protocols.
    • Perform routine administrative duties, including documentation management, rate confirmations, and electronic file maintenance.
    • Ensure adherence to company policies, brokerage procedures, compliance standards, and service expectations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements:

    • Ability to establish trust and credibility with internal teams, customers, and third-party carriers.
    • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to accurately process load transactions, rate confirmations, and documentation within brokerage systems.
    • Proactive and resourceful, with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive shipments in a fast-paced terminal environment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills across customers, carriers, operations, and leadership.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and transportation management or web-based brokerage systems.
    • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently resolve load execution, capacity, and service issues.
    • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours, as required to support freight operations.

Education/Experience/Certificates/Licenses Requirements:

    • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or related field preferred; equivalent real-world brokerage or transportation experience acceptable.
    • 2 to 3 years of experience in transportation, brokerage coordination, dispatch, terminal operations, customer service, or logistics support required.
    • Experience working within transportation management systems, such as Descartes Trace or similar TMS platforms, strongly preferred.
Shift Days: Saturday and Sunday
Shift Hours: 6am - 4:30pm (Available to work extra hours, weekends, and holidays preferred.)
Work Location: Remote
Payrate: $18 - $20 per hour
