Design is not just a job; it is a Lifestyle.  We curate the design of Marriott’s CollectionBrands by combining storytelling with the essence of our Brands.  Candidates should be able to combine a creative mindset with strategic thinking and can engage with owners/project managers, multiple disciplines, and internal stakeholders.  The primary focus of the position is our Collection Brands (Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy, Autograph Collection, The Luxury Collection, Tribute Portfolio, and their respective residences projects). Other brands may be required based on market conditions and workload drivers.

 

At the project level, a successful Senior Manager of Interior Design provides design guidance via daily participation in the project processes and via formal reviews through the lens of each brand and ensures that design standards are adhered to both programmatically and for quality.  Candidates will work on both franchised and managed deals with internal and external stakeholders fostering relationships that permit great solutions.  Work occurs in an atmosphere of collaboration where the expectation is to add value to create great product.  This is a unique opportunity to position yourself directly in the Collection Brands throughout the US & Canada.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

 

Education and Experience 

 

Required

  • Minimum 4-year degree from in a related design discipline is required; an accredited Interior Design program preferred.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office, scheduling, project & database mgmt. software (e.g., Microsoft Project, AutoCad, Bluebeam, Adobe)

 

Preferred

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in the design field, preferably in the hospitality design industry
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • NCIDQ certificate preferred.

 

                  

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES 

 

  • Provides and manages all aspects of franchised, managed, or corporate interior design services for new construction, renovation and conversion projects for the Collection Brands.
  • Manages the complete design process and documentation package for interior design of a hotel project brand image of excellence in quality of design and aesthetic appeal. 
  • Assists in the execution of PIP’s (Property Improvement Plans) working closely with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partners with Brands & Global Design Strategies to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to drive the business needs of the brands in support of their strategic growth goals.
  • Supports internal stakeholders, owners, interior designers, architects, and other consultants to maintain quality, budget, and schedule all the whole ensuring excellent design results.
  • Manages all project deadlines through Marriott’s Database platform, providing timely and accurate updates to support the business needs. 
  • Solicits proposals, negotiates contracts, and monitors performance; reviews and approves mock-up rooms and other conditions related to design. 
  • Performs final implementation review to ensure compliance with brand concepts and standards.
  • Conducts and leads onsite reviews, surveys and meetings with Consultants, Operations and Owners as well as with Marriott’s internal stakeholders.
  • Assists Design Director in managing project budget, schedule and personnel requirements.
