Position Summary
We are a China-based cross-border company seeking a market-driven Product & Market Research / Fashion Trend Specialist to support product strategy and design decisions for the U.S. market. This role focuses on in-depth research across major U.S. mass retail channels (such as Walmart, Target, Costco, and similar retailers), consumer insights, competitor and fashion trend analysis, and hands-on design support when needed. The position requires strong cross-time-zone communication skills and flexibility to support a fast-paced cross-border business environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Research & Product Insights – U.S. Mass Retail Channels (40%)
    • Conduct quarterly, in-depth market research on the latest product assortments across major U.S. mass retailers, covering both online and offline channels.
    • Analyze consumer portraits, including demographics, lifestyle, price sensitivity, usage scenarios, and purchasing behavior.
    • Identify best-selling product features, pricing ranges, functional highlights, and packaging or merchandising trends.
    • Translate research findings into clear and actionable product design and development recommendations to support new product planning and iteration.
  • Competitor Research & Fashion Trend Analysis (30%)
    • Track and analyze U.S. fashion and lifestyle trends, including colors, silhouettes, materials, and functional design directions relevant to the target customer base.
    • Conduct structured competitor research across key online and offline brands, including fast-fashion and mass-market players.
    • Monitor competitor product assortments, launch cadence, pricing strategies, merchandising approaches, and promotional activities.- Deliver trend and competitor analysis reports to support product positioning and seasonal planning.
  • Design Support (30%)
    • Provide design support when needed, including concept development, design refinement, and product iteration.
    • Collaborate closely with product, design, sourcing, and supply chain teams to ensure designs are market-relevant and commercially viable.
    • Participate in sample reviews and provide feedback from a market and consumer perspective.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • May require domestic and/or international travel to support market research, store visits, trade shows, or project collaboration.
    • Ability to work effectively across time zones and communicate with global teams, partners, and suppliers.
    • Complete other related tasks as assigned by management based on business needs.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Strong understanding of the U.S. retail and/or fashion market.
  • Experience in market research, product planning, fashion, or related fields is preferred.
  • Ability to translate market insights into practical product and design recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills and cross-functional collaboration ability.
  • High level of adaptability and willingness to work in a cross-border, fast-paced environment.
