Program Overview – Community Care
This position reports to the Supervisor of the Transportation Program and is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and professional transportation services to seniors and adults with disabilities within the community.
The incumbent reports to the Supervisor, Transportation of the Transportation Programs, and is responsible for carrying out assigned duties in a manner that ensures the safety and well-being of clients and the public, while safeguarding WoodGreen’s property and reputation.

What You Will Do
  • Provide safe, timely, door-to-door or door-through-door transportation services to clients.
  • Assist clients with boarding and exiting vehicles, including the safe operation of wheelchair lifts, ramps, securement systems, and seatbelts.
  • Support clients using mobility aids, including wheelchairs, walkers, and scooters.
  • Provide assistance with the distribution of meals as required under the Meals on Wheels program.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate, mileage logs, and complete incident reports as required.
  • Comply with all Ministry of Transportation regulations and WoodGreen policies and procedures.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with applicable privacy legislation, including PHIPA.
  • Follow infection prevention and control protocols, including vehicle cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with schedulers, supervisors, clients, caregivers, and WoodGreen/Toronto Ride staff.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, including contacting emergency services and notifying supervisors as required.
  • Participate in mandatory training sessions, team meetings, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support and uphold the organization’s anti-racism objectives, equity commitments, and community development principles within the program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Due to WoodGreen’s multi-site location, we reserve the right to relocate the incumbent to another site, in the same position performing the same duties, as may be directed by program needs.

What You Bring to the Team
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated safe driving experience.      
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license.
  • Clean driver’s abstract.

  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated safe driving experience.
  • Experience supporting seniors and/or adults with disabilities preferred.
  • Experience operating accessible vehicles considered an asset.
