Incumbent works with staff to plan and implement recreation programs targeting teens ages 13-18, engages and mentors participants, and collaborates with community partners to plan teen-focused events.</p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"><li><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">Develops documents such as monthly calendars for program sites.</p></li><li><p>Manages program spaces, acquires supplies, and maintains cleanliness and organization.</p></li><li><p>Supervises youth groups during programs, maintains discipline and order, issues equipment, and conducts games and activities.</p></li><li><p>Assists in training, assigning, leading, and evaluating staff and volunteers.</p></li><li><p>Leads interactive recreation workshops, special events and other programs.</p></li><li><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">Organizes positive alternative and preventive education projects.</p></li><li><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">Assists in the development of programs to meet community needs.</p></li><li><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">Develops community partnerships, builds relationships, markets programs, and recruits volunteers.</p></li><li><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">Schedules and organizes teen programming and outreach, schedules meetings and activities at site facilities.</p></li><li><p>Enters participant information and program registrations into Active.Net recreation software system, manages and updates existing information.</p></li><li><p>Maintains and prepares attendance and activity reports and other program documents.</p></li><li><p>Addresses participant and staff needs and concerns and communicates them to supervisor.</p></li><li><p>Completes program and staff evaluation forms at the end of the program.</p></li><li><p>Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service training programs, orientations, and evaluation sessions.</p></li><li><p>Observes necessary precautions to secure the safety of program participants and renders first aid in case of minor injury.</p></li><li><p>Completes accident reports.</p></li></ul><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><br></p><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><u>KNOWLEDGE OF:</u></p><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">-Recreational planning and the provision of general and specialized recreation programs for teens.</p><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">-Gang awareness.</p><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">-Awareness of social media platforms teens are utilizing.</p><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><br></p><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><u>SKILL IN: </u></p><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">-Organizing and leading group recreational programs. </p><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">-Interacting positively and communicating effectively with teens.</p><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">-Behavior management and conflict resolution.</p><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">-Conducting research and evaluations.</p><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">-Report writing and record keeping.</p><br><ul><li><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">High School diploma or equivalency (GED, HiSet, TASC).</p></li><li><p>Two (2) years of experience working with teens in a recreational setting,supervising activities, and providing customer service.</p></li><li><p>Must be at least 21 years of age.</p></li><li><p>Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.</p></li><li><p>Valid Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED – with Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto Injector Certification "or" obtain within the first six months of employment.</p></li></ul>
