The Data Visualization Engineer & Analyst is a hybrid role, reporting to the Director, Insights Delivery. The position will work with GATX business end users and functional leaders to provide guidance on the development of business-facing analytic visualization solutions and implement them in PowerBI. Responsibilities • Perform data and requirements analysis activities in support of the planning, development, testing, and deployment of business intelligence dashboards, reports, models, and extracts. • Create wireframe designs to meet requirements. • Implement dashboards according to wireframe designs in the arenaflex Power Platform. • Assess, analyze, refine, and document requirements for analytic solutions including arenaflex PowerBI dashboards, reports, data integration and underlying data infrastructure. • Collect requirements directly from business, deliver mockups to facilitate visualization of end state, and draft solution narratives. • Estimate the effort and duration of analysis activities related to new requests and defect fixes. • Manage the development lifecycle and user acceptance testing leveraging the Jira Service Management platform and workflows. • Learn the business processes for which application integration and insights are needed. • Support change management initiatives by collaborating with cross-functional teams. • Play a key role in all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) as they relate to integration and development of insights. • Lead the visualization wireframe design process with analytics consumers for reports and dashboards. • Implement and unit test reports and dashboards in the arenaflex PowerBI tool. • Collaborate with data engineers, cloud engineers, and other members of the IT-DARI team. • Resolve technically complex assignments. • Develop and support all aspects of reporting development, including creating dashboards and understanding data workflow. • Monitor daily production processes and partner with IT administrators to resolve problems. • Provide production support for insights and environments when required. • Investigate and stay abreast of new technologies and innovations. • Support and maintain software environments and tools used for application integration. Requirements • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a quantitative field (e.g., Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Math, Sciences, Engineering) with concentrations in Data Analysis, Data Integration/ETL, Data Modeling and Data Warehousing as plus. • 9+ years of overall IT experience. • 6+ years of experience using arenaflex PowerBI to design and develop Business Intelligence solutions. • Experience using advanced PowerBI features including development DAX, PowerBI dataflows, and data modeling best practices. • Experience in data storytelling; creating compelling narratives based on underlying data. • Experience creating iterative wireframe designs in modern collaboration tools such as Miro, Figma, or Mural. Nice-to-haves • arenaflex Power BI Development certification desired. • Ability to research, compile and generate working instructions, resources and/or training packages.
