Proof of work The team Join our Infrastructure Operations team to help us expand Kraken’s infrastructure and start playing a vital role in managing and enhancing Kraken's platform! The Data Centre Operations Engineer is a ‘hands-on’ role that is critical to the continuing success of Kraken; you will join a highly motivated team that is responsible for managing the entire network and compute infrastructure for one of the world’s leading Cryptocurrency exchanges. We are looking for a dynamic and innovative self-starter with the ability to think “outside of the box” to solve complex problems in a sustainable way. This role is hybrid on-site/remote. The opportunity • Performs highly skilled preventative and corrective on-site maintenance to critical exchange infrastructure • Performs highly skilled installations on complex server and network infrastructure • Provides hands-on facility support where required (e.g. installation of new equipment, decommissioning of equipment, replacement of faulty equipment, internal audits…etc.) • Responsible for Asset and Inventory management • Responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation • Response for bootstrapping physical infrastructure via out-of-band management networks • Assist with basic network configuration for setting up out-of-band device access • Assist with capacity planning/management, scaling and interconnecting with other data centres as needed • Monitor and maintain all physical infrastructure (network, security, and compute), remote office locations, and respond to critical problems to maximise service uptime • Assume on-call responsibilities and duties per the schedule • Travel as needed to support physical data centre and onsite infrastructure such as Wifi access points, Internet circuits, firewalls • Travel as needed to new facilities to support planning for future infrastructure expansion. Skills you should HODL • 2 + years experience of data centre operations in a highly security focused environment • 2 + years experience working in a large-scale data centre environment • Experience with power, cooling and airflow management of physical devices • Basic knowledge of IP addressing and an understanding of subnets and gateway configuration for out-of-band device management • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to perform well under pressure, high attention to detail • Strong desire / interest in learning new technology • Highly motivated and passionate about data centre engineering and security • Physical labour skill, able to lift more than 25 kgs • This role requires the ability to travel.
