An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a part time Business Support Officer to provide administrative support to the Highways service within the Environment Directorate. This role will be based at Area 6 Highway depot, Boroughbridge


We’re looking for an organised, motivated Business Support Officer to join our team and play a vital role in supporting our operational services. This part‑time role, with set working days on Thursday and Friday, is varied and suited to someone who enjoys a fast‑paced environment and takes pride in delivering high‑quality support.


What you’ll do

Provide day‑to‑day business support to managers and operational teams, including liaising with internal and external partners. Carry out financial admin tasks such as raising purchase orders, receipting goods, processing invoices, petty cash, and supporting recharges and journals. Maintain accurate records, manage data and spreadsheets, and support seasonal operational tasks including winter service admin. Take minutes for key meetings


About you

You’ll be confident using systems like Excel and Word, an excellent communicator, able to prioritise workloads, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Minute‑taking experience is desirable but not essential. You must understand confidentiality, GDPR and professional standards.
