The Okta Administrator is responsible for operating, optimizing, and securing a large-scale Identity and Access Management (IAM) ecosystem built on the Okta platform. This role manages a high-volume environment with thousands of users, diverse identity types, and a broad portfolio of integrated applications. The administrator ensures reliable authentication, seamless user experiences, and strong security controls across the enterprise.


Key responsibilities include configuring and maintaining Okta tenants, managing lifecycle automation, supporting SSO and MFA integrations, and ensuring adherence to governance, compliance, and architectural standards. The role partners closely with security, application owners, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to deliver stable operations, troubleshoot complex identity issues, and support ongoing modernization efforts.


Success in this role requires deep expertise in Okta administration, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. The administrator plays a critical part in safeguarding enterprise assets, enabling frictionless access, and supporting the organization’s broader IAM strategy.


Platform Administration

  • Manage and maintain Okta tenants, including configuration, policies, and platform settings
  • Administer SSO, MFA, and adaptive authentication policies across thousands of users
  • Oversee user lifecycle management, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and group automation
  • Maintain and optimize directory integrations (AD, LDAP, HRIS, etc.)
  • Monitor platform health, performance, and capacity


Application & Integration Management

  • Configure and maintain SAML, OIDC, and OAuth integrations for enterprise applications
  • Support SCIM provisioning and application onboarding processes
  • Troubleshoot complex authentication and authorization issues
  • Partner with application owners to ensure secure and reliable integrations


Security & Compliance

  • Enforce identity governance standards, access policies, and compliance requirements
  • Support audits, access reviews, and reporting activities
  • Maintain strong controls around privileged access and administrative roles


Operations & Support

  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for identity‑related incidents and service requests
  • Maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
  • Participate in on‑call rotation for critical IAM services


Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization
  • Support IAM modernization initiatives and platform enhancements
  • Collaborate with architects and security teams on roadmap planning

What we're looking for


  • 10+ years of IT, Systems Administration and Okta Administration experience operating, optimizing, and securing a large-scale Identity and Access Management (IAM) ecosystem. This includes ensuring reliable authentication, seamless user experiences, and strong security controls across the enterprise.
  • Experience manging high-volume environment with thousands of users, diverse identity types, and a broad portfolio of integrated applications
  • 3+ years of hands‑on Okta administration experience in a large enterprise
  • Strong knowledge of SSO, MFA, SAML, OIDC, OAuth, and SCIM
  • Experience with lifecycle management, group rules, and directory integrations
  • Familiarity with identity governance, RBAC, and access policy design
  • Understanding of security best practices and regulatory frameworks


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Okta Workflows or automation tools
  • Basic scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS)
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and service management


Preferred Certifications

  • Okta Certified Administrator
  • Okta Certified Developer

The pay range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
